HALLOWEEN IS IN THE AIR: Susan J. McLeod

Halloween is in the air
If you go out, you’d best beware.
Through the tombstones, mist is creeping
Are the dead there really sleeping?
Leaves are falling, withered, dying
In the grey sky, crows are flying.
What is that strange woman seeking?
Do you hear a mandrake shrieking?
Bubbling potions, swirling, steaming
Get too close, and you’ll be screaming.
Unknown creatures you may spy
From the corner of your eye.
Bats are circling overhead
Spiders dangling from a thread.
Get inside, escape the chill
And you’ll be safe—of course you will.
